Pattern: Update

Changed the colors, I like this much better.

Experimenting: Playing With Fire

After standing holding this thing still, focused on an envelope for 15 minutes, it warmed up...a little. Unfortunately no matter how cool this dish looks I don't think it will heat anything up enough to even catch fire or brown a piece of paper, let alone boil water.

Then I have all these pieces but no glue that will hold and no way to weld the pieces together. I can say nothing more than I am thoroughly disappointed in how all this turned out.

more problems

I bought pots and pans to connect together to form the boiling pot with a rounded top and catcher basin, etc. and I tried glue and heat sensitive tape but nothing will connect these pieces. since I believe these are aluminum pans, the option of welding (which I don't really have anyway) is out due to gas chemicals emitted by welding aluminum.

I look on the bright side though, this dish mosaic of mirrors will look sweet hanging on a wall.

my headache

The past two class periods + many hours beyond, I have spent pushing the bounds of bad luck by strategically (if I spelled that right) breaking mirrors into half inch squares. Back to basics is right, glass breaking is an art form let me tell you. I have been mounting the squares in a sort of mosaic pattern, 2/3 done and I can honestly say at this point I'll be happy to finish this damn thing and I don't care if it cant generate heat. My concept and idea may be sound but I guess if you have to break mirrors to do it...don't.

PS: make sure to check the back of glue for warnings and such, it may explain why your head hurts after an hour of working.

New Website

I have redone my website and I think it's looking pretty good, check it out.

Mirrors

I went out today and bought mirrors and some pots and pans for my solar water distiller. If you believe in bad luck I'm in it for the long haul, I spent all evening breaking mirrors into half in squares to cover the convex of the dish. (Pictures to come)
